Deode T. Castro – President

Hello, my name is Deode Theodore Castro, and I am the President of Crossroads Youth Transport Service, Inc. .  I have dedicated my life to educating young people, and helping them gain tools to become good citizens and better communicators in their personal and family lives.  I am sensitive to the importance of family and the role that it plays in our society today.   My goal is to continue assisting families who are putting forth great efforts in moving toward peace, happiness, and excellence.  Your family is your greatest investment.

I am a native of Buffalo , New York and one of five children.   I served a full career in the United States Coast Guard and involved myself in Search and Rescue, Law Enforcement, Aids to Navigation, Personnel Administration, Recruit Training, Subsistence Specialist, and Personnel Mentoring.  During my military career, I received several awards including six (6) good conduct awards for outstanding achievement.

I served as a peace officer in the city of Florence, Oregon , where I graduated number one in my class.  Upon graduating from the Oregon Police Academy, I received the Victor G. Atiyeh (Governor's) Award for outstanding achievement, Physical Fitness Award, Defensive Tactics Award, and the Student Leadership Award.  The Oregon Police Academy asked me to attend instructor training for “Confrontation Simulation” (teaches peace officers how to deescalate hostile and verbal confrontations).  I also received certification in Emergency Vehicle Operations, Standard Field Sobriety Testing, and Drugs That Impair Driving.

I have been a professional Dog Trainer for the past sixteen (16) years.  I have trained over fifty (50) different breeds and specialized in Alaskan Malamutes.  I conducted Classroom training as well as individual lessons.  In addition, I trained companion dogs for the elderly, the handicapped, and for persons with special needs.

Some of my greatest enjoyment came when I worked for Bridges Academy School for Boys, in Bend , Oregon .  I was hired to implement the USDA School lunch program, design a nutritional program for vegetarians and veegans, and instruct young men in the art of food preparation, sanitation, dinning room etiquette, serving, customer relations, and restaurant management.  I also designed a physical fitness program, which focused on teaching students the importance of creating good self-esteem, an exercise regiment, and a personalized nutritional plan. During my employment, I was a recipient of the “employee of the month award.”

After Bridges Academy , I worked for SageWalk, The Wilderness School, in Redmond , Oregon .  I was hired to perform the duties of a transport specialist, which consisted of transporting students from their homes to Sage Walk's intake facility, to the doctors, and then to the field.

Presently, my wife and I raise wild American mustang horses.  We purchase these horses from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and then put them through a gentling program, located on our ranch.  The rewards that we receive are countless, but one that stands alone is when the horses allow you to become a part of their lives.   We now own nine (9) American mustangs and through learning, giving, and patience, we will continue to devote ourselves to the true American legend, the American mustang.

 Thank you!
